Background

How to remove a background for free

  1. Drop, paste or choose an image above.
  2. Wait a few seconds while the AI finds the subject (the first run downloads the model once).
  3. Pick transparent or a solid colour and click Download.

Free exports are up to 1,500 px on the long edge, plenty for social posts, marketplaces and slides. Need print size or hundreds of images? Pro is $4/month.

Questions

Is there a watermark?

No. Free downloads have no watermark.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in a modern mobile browser. Phones are slower than computers, and the one-time model download is 45 to 115 MB, so use Wi-Fi the first time.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The AI model runs inside your browser (WebGPU when available, otherwise WebAssembly). Your images are read and processed on your device and never sent to us or anyone else. Open your browser's network tab and check.

Why does the first image take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 45 MB, or 115 MB on WebGPU) from the Hugging Face CDN and caches it. After that it starts in a few seconds.
