Are my images uploaded?
No. The AI model runs inside your browser (WebGPU when available, otherwise WebAssembly). Your images are read and processed on your device and never sent to us or anyone else. Open your browser's network tab and check.
Why does the first image take longer?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model (about 45 MB, or 115 MB on WebGPU) from the Hugging Face CDN and caches it. After that it starts in a few seconds.
Is it really free?
Yes. The free plan removes backgrounds from one image at a time and exports up to 1,500 px on the long edge, with no watermark and no sign-up. Pro ($4/month) adds full resolution, batches of up to 100 and ZIP download.
Which AI model is it?
Two open models, both licensed for commercial use, running through ONNX Runtime Web: BiRefNet-lite (MIT) on GPUs with WebGPU, and ORMBG (Apache-2.0) on the CPU elsewhere.
